| Aromatherapy encompasses an entire world of herbal, holistic, and spiritual thought, teachings and practice. The practice has been around, documented or not, as long as there has been a human being and a plant of some sort utilized in alleviating whatever pain or ailment that that human suffered from. Imagine how far the science of its practice has come! And, then there are the tools of aromatherapy which can consist of from the simplest dab of essential oil onto a favorite hanky (in order to breathe in the healing essence of that particular oil), to oil warmers and lamps, crystals, healing stones, incenses... I can go on and on (and I do on my other web site pages - more on that later!) Here within these pages of SweetPea and Violets, I offer to you an assortment of aromatherapy essentials (no pun intended): the oils, of course, plus the candles, incenses, and accessories that make for the olfactory "fun" of aromatherapy practice... My personal favorite aspect: everything smells so marvelous! It is a "scent-sational" (my own favorite word!) delight to open the newly acquired bottle of oil and inhale its most potent benefits, or to unwrap that anxiously-awaited-for candle, set it on a favorite candlestand and light it, taking such pleasure from its flickering flame and subtle fragrance that will then waft throughout the room. And, then, favorite of favorites, to indulge in that heavenly fragranced bath or massage (lovingly administered by a trusted, - ahem, favorite - partner!) at the end of a stressful day. Slathering on a silky, deliciously scented body lotion afterward - marvelous final touch. It is such a treat to treat oneself well. And, that is exactly what you are doing - treating yourself well - when you find and use an essential oil, fragrance or bath product, or light a favorite incense or candle. You are utilizing principles of aromatherapy. You are using fragrance, and the beneficial organic essences that are released into the air each time an oil is warmed, a candle lit, or incense burned. Want to intensify the marvelous healing effects? Try listening to a CD of soothing music by a favorite artist, perhaps simultaneously meditating or just relaxing back with eyes closed. Absorb it all. Relax, and take that moment or two for yourself. You've earned it; you deserve it. | What can be more soothing, more relaxing, than soaking in a tub filled to the rim and emitting a favorite scent? Bubbles to your chin, warm and silky water - water beneficially enhanced by the addition of that organic oil or bath salt. You emerge some while later, towel off, apply after bath lotion or cream and marvel at how creamy smooth your skin feels. Delicious. And, so worth that few minutes (or half hour or more! Who's marking the time, I ask you?) of indulgence... |
| Over the past year, I have to admit that Terra Nova products have become one of my favorite lines. The fragrances are all so very naturally scented - not overpowering or too flowery - and the products themselves... well, their quality speaks for itself. Lotions are silky, not greasy. Bath products dissolve well, and the fragrances! I love Gardenia! But, they all smell marvelous. It's hard to choose. You'll want to sample them all. (With TerraNova Kits-to-Go, you can!) True, the Classics are on my list to try, as well as some of the newest Spa fragrances - Shea Blossom, for instance. There are only so many fragrances one can be sporting at one time! (I do love my fragrances!!) |

Lavender calms, Clary Sage is grounding (I love to inhale Clary Sage when I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with all life's varied responsibilities!) and Rosemary is well known to aid when late-night studying is a must!
