| Aromatherapy encompasses a variety of tools and methods in the use of healing herbs and essential oil fragrances to address physical, emotional, and physical diffiulties... Keeping that in my mind, one of my personal favorite "tools" is the aroma lamp, sometimes referred to as an "oil burner". Whatever you prefer to call it, the aroma lamp is a relatively easy "tool" to use, allowing for safety precautions, of course. Never leave your aroma lamp unattended. Never allow the oils to warm for an extended length of time. Aroma lamps come in a variety of forms, from the simplest ceramic bowl to the most ornate and decorative sculptured figurine. All come with a dish (or bowl) that serves to hold your oils and an opening below in the lamp body itself, where one places a tealight which, once lit, warms the oil. Healing fragrance will soon fill the air. With essential oils, this is especially true; the warmed oil releases its beneficial particles into the air to be absorbed by the user when breathed in. To use my oils, I always fill the bowl with water so that it is perhaps 2/3 full. (I do this because I have found that - though oil and water do not mix - it aides in the oils not burning and helps the bowl from becoming gummy from oil residue. My own personal experience.) To continue: I light my tealight and allow the water to begin warming, while I add several drops of the particular essential oil that I have chosen. I have read in more than one volume the recommended amount of essential oil to use would be no more than 8-10 drops - or 2-3 drops of each oil, if you are blending more than one oil. Refer to your favorite how-to book, or the recommendations of a reliable aromatherapist, if you are in doubt. It only takes moments for marvelous fragrance to be released into the air.
